Stayed Armchair

With an expressive, unique wood design that adorns the entire structure of the body, the Estaiada armchair is a perfect example of research into the potential of wood, placing it in perfect harmony between form and function. The design was directly inspired by the aesthetic and architectural elements of cable-stayed bridges, often found as functional elements, but also as iconic elements in city landscapes. The elongated and connected design of the wood starts at the foot and goes up to the arm, combining with the structure of leather ropes that accommodate the seat. The repetition created with the leather ropes, in an analogy to the cable-stayed armchair, and the way they are braided relate artisanal constructions and the handmade. This handmade style recovers aspects of craftsmanship, visual arts and culture, giving the object a unique identity. The cable-stayed concept applies to a family of products that includes: armchair, chaise longue and ottoman/stool.
